Hooghly River Bridge
Commissioners (HRBC), a statutory organization now under the
Transport Department, Govt. Of West Bengal, was established in
1969 for construction of
Vidyasagar Setu. This engineering marvel over the river
Hooghly which was inaugurated in 1992 is the longest
cable-stayed bridge in the country. By overseeing the
construction process of the intricate infrastructure project
HRBC has acquired expertise in managing projects of bridge and
highway whatever may be its magnitude.
Today HRBC stands for on-time completion of complex
engineering projects of exacting standard in the busiest of
urban locale.
HRBC successfully implemented Transport Department’s Calcutta
Infrastructure Development Projects (CTIDP) under JBIC loan
with the objective to improve traffic speed by easing
congestions at important critical junctions and corridors of
the Kolkata Mega City by implementation of four flyovers and
by improvement in a number at-grade junctions including
renewal of tram tracks by concretization of pavement.
