The primary objective of the organization was to develop the Vidyasagar Setu, Second Hooghly Bridge. Sooner the organization entered into various infrastructural developments under the Transport Department. HRBC is into construction, development and maintenance of Flyovers, Footpaths, Public Parks, Concretization of Tramline Tracks, Bridges, etc.

HRBC successfully implemented Transport Department’s Calcutta Infrastructure Development Projects (CTIDP) under JBIC loan with the objective to improve traffic speed by easing congestions at important critical junctions and corridors of the Kolkata Mega City by implementation of four flyovers and by improvement in a number at-grade junctions including renewal of tram tracks by concretization of pavement.

Today HRBC stands for on-time completion of complex engineering projects of exacting standard in the busiest of urban locale.
